PENTLANDS CEILIDH BAND
PENTLANDS CEILIDH BAND

An extremely popular package, particularly for weddings, is our Ceilidh Disco mix.

This package consists of our 3 piece Ceilidh Band plus a separate DJ.

Our DJ has a massive library of songs which he brings along on a lap top. The lap top plugs into the band PA system (so no extra gear) and we have 2 or 3 nice lighting effects to create the right disco atmosphere.

The choice of music, and in fact how the evening entertainment actually runs can be yours if you wish (ie the proportion of ceilidh/disco).

We would send you a music/dance request form, as we realise there may be a few "special" songs/dances you would wish to hear/dance to on your Wedding Day. Choose as many or as few as you like. If we do not already have a particular track, we will source it prior to the event.

For your first dance, you can choose a Disco song (a slow number or faster), or from the Pentlands Ceilidh Band, a Waltz or even a Strip The Willow. - It's completely up to you!
We can of course guide you as to what usually works well, if you wish.

Included in the Ceilidh Disco package is the option of having the ceilidh dances "called" by our DJ.

Our talented DJ is an excellent dance caller. So when the Pentlands Ceilidh Band is playing, he will get onto the dance floor with a radio mic, "encourage" your guests up onto the dance floor then teach/demonstrate the steps.

The Ceilidh Disco package works extremely well and provides variety for you and your guests. The "calling" option can really help the evening go with a swing, especially if some of your guests are not familiar with ceilidh dancing.

In our experience the following format is very popular and works really well:-

7:45 - 8:00 ?
1st Dance by DJ - Bride & Groom on their own for 1st half of song, with Bridesmaid and Best Man then rest of Bridal Party joining in.
2nd Dance by DJ - Bridal Party swap partners and rest of guests invited up to join them.
3rd Dance by DJ - For everyone. Usually slightly more up tempo to get everyone "in the mood".
(these 3 songs can be chosen by Bride & Groom or by DJ)

8:00 - 8:45/9:00
Pentlands Ceilidh Band - Straight into Gay Gordons followed by Dashing White Sergeant, Canadian Barn Dance, St Bernards Waltz etc. etc.

8:45/9:00 - 9:30
Disco - General through the ages mix with songs chosen by Bride & Groom thrown in.

9:30 - 10:00 ?
Buffet - Background Music played by Disc (Laptop/i-Pod/CD).

10:00 - 11:00
Pentlands Ceilidh Band - Another mix of popular dances, leading up to the Orcadian Strip The Willow to finish the Ceilidh set.

11:00 - 12:00
Disco - again, another mix of songs with more Bride & Groom's requests, ending at around 11:55 with some slower songs. Followed by "Auld Lang Syne" and "For They are Jolly Good Fellows" by the Pentlands Ceilidh band.

The above is a general running order suggestion, but actual times can be arranged prior to the event, or can be adapted on the night, depending on any delays, and how well the Ceilidh or Disco is being received.

I hope the above helps a little to plan your evening.

Pentlands Ceilidh Band and Dance Caller (without the disco) is also an option.

We are located in Central Scotland but will travel anywhere in Scotland and the UK.
